Abstract

This research investigates the critical role of collaboration skills in preparing students for the Indian workforce. Through in-depth interviews with eight experts in workforce development and education, the study reveals a clear consensus: collaboration is paramount in today's job market. Employers actively seek candidates who can integrate seamlessly into collaborative teams and work effectively towards shared goals. However, the research identifies a disconnect between this demand and current educational practices. The research explores potential solutions. Integrating project-based learning across subjects can provide opportunities for students to work together on real-world problems. Additionally, building social-emotional learning (SEL) skills like active listening, empathy, and conflict resolution is crucial for successful collaboration. The findings highlight challenges like tailoring collaboration skill development to specific industries and equipping educators with the necessary skills to facilitate collaborative learning.
