Abstract

As if the mass murder of Palestinians in Gaza that the International Court of Justice ruled a “plausible case of genocide” by Israel is not enough, President Donald Trump called Gaza a “demolition site,” proposing to “re-locate,” that is, ethnically cleanse the two million Palestinians out from Gaza into Jordan and Egypt. He stated that Israel would “hand over” Gaza to the United States (US) after the conflict for “long-term” US ownership, no American ground troops would be present, and this region would be transformed into a “Riviera of the Middle East,” a real estate haven, not to mention cornering oil and gas. Trump’s plan fits with Benjamin Netanyahu’s cartographic desires of more land and a greater Israel, a demand he has been reiterating, including in the United Nations. Trump’s plan not only violates multiple international and humanitarian laws but is morally repugnant.
