At the network’s edge, fog computing provides an integrated mechanism to facilitate communications, collection of data, analysis, device management, storage, and services. This makes it possible to implement infrastructure that is centrally managed in a highly dispersed setting. With so many IoT-based services operating in a sustainable smart city setting, computing infrastructure takes precedence. In order to provide cutting-edge services, thousands of smart devices, cars, mobile phones, and people connect with one another. In this situation, the fog computing setup can be highly helpful in terms of data and communication. The primary topics covered in this chapter are: (a) software and data deployment on fog nodes (b) fog-based analytics and data management, and (c) legal considerations arising from data protection and privacy concerns in fog-enabled smart cities. The infrastructure of sustainable smart cities has been successfully implemented, leading to the addition of use cases. Additionally, the potential and difficulties related to legal challenges have been discussed in light of the growing trends in smart cities.
