Abstract
Measures announced by China and India in the last week of January that enable the restoration of flights, visas for journalists and think tanks, Indian pilgrimages to Mount Kailash Mansarovar, and sharing transborder river data indicate a thaw in India–China relations. The de-escalation comes after the brief exchange between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping during the Kazan (Russia) BRICS Summit in October 2024, where both leaders agreed on the need for peace and tranquillity on the border as an important measure for the development of the two Asian giants, beneficial for developing countries, and for the construction of the multipolar world.
