Once considered a surrogacy hub, India has had knee-jerk legal reactions to regulate surrogacy. This chapter traces the legal journey to regulate surrogacy in India, especially within the complex socio-cultural contexts, and juxtaposes the feminist critiques with the existing legal situation around surrogacy.
