“One can easily make out the nature of the industries situated in Wazirpur, the scraps and shreds of steel that litter the streets give it away.” In the month of August 2021, during the debriefing meeting for one of the first field visits, our lead field ethnographer, Jignesh Mistry, reflected on his initial observations. “Everything, from the clutter in the corners, stacks of remnants, the people (workers) on the streets, the carts they were carrying and even the sky is painted grey.”
