Abstract
The plight of women in India demands urgent attention and concerted action. Merely enacting laws is insufficient if not accompanied by robust enforcement mechanisms and societal attitudinal shifts. Initiatives must be undertaken to address deep-rooted biases, improve access to justice, and empower women legally, economically, and socially. Since, it is evident that the mere existence of legal provisions is not tantamount to progress. It is imperative to improve the existing legislative provisions and bridge the gap between the legislations and their implementation. On a social level it is also important to pose a challenge to regressive societal norms and foster a culture of gender equality and inclusivity to ensure the safety and dignity of every woman in the country.
