Abstract
The book presents the history of Indian English Fiction which has expanded exponentially during the preceding two decades of 21st century. Besides documenting more than 1400 novels published during this period, it comments on and categorizes around 400 of them. The book has been divided into two parts: In the first part, a brief history of the noticeable works by authors of Indian origin has been taken up. The survey categorizes different types of novels with themes like individual psyche, relationships, family structures, socio-economic issues, history, politics, myths, region, crime, travel, terror, romance, campus, corporate, science, and so on. The second part of the book deals in detail with selected fiction penned by some leading and a few promising authors, from a particular theoretical angle such as postcolonial, feminist, race studies, new historicist, psycho-analytical, sociological analysis, structural narratology, etc.
