Abstract
Activism and governance go hand in hand. Practices of activism or protests have evolved independently as well as in conjunction with the shifts in political regimes. While traditional forms of activism, such as sit-in protests, sloganeering, protest poetry, street art, etc. still exist, in the past decade, there has been a tremendous escalation in more creative methods of activism. This also sheds some light on how activism works in authoritarian contexts as opposed to liberal democracies. With higher levels of pushback and repression from the state in authoritarian settings, it becomes even more imperative to develop alternative and innovative methods of activism
