Abstract
This article analyzes the content, process and consequence of a recent resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that calls for an immediate humanitarian truce and cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip. The article examines the legal implications of the resolution, which is a non-binding expression of the majority view of UN Member States, and the challenges it faces in addressing the violations of international law and the aspirations of the parties involved in the conflict. The article also discusses the historical background of the conflict and the previous attempts to find a peaceful solution based on the two-state principle. The article concludes by highlighting the urgency of finding a resolution to the ongoing crisis that has caused immense human suffering and instability in the region.
