Abstract
The multi-party general election held on 8 November 2015 was to choosemembers for the House of Representatives/Lower House/Pyithu Hluttaw,House of Nationalities/Upper House/Amyotha Hluttaw, and State andRegional Hluttaws or Assemblies. It was thefirst open poll since the1990 general election, which the National League for Democracy(NLD) won in a landslide but the State Law and Order RestorationCouncil (SLORC)1military government refused to transfer power toelected representatives. Two other elections were held between 1990and 2015.
