Abstract
At this juncture, China and India are at the critical phase of their social and economic development. Both countries are facing enormous challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. China has been successful in initiating significant welfare reforms in the last two decades which has been backed by robust economic growth. The Indian welfare reforms have fallen short to propel India into middle-income countries (MICs).
