The scale and breadth of Indo-Russian ties have a long history and, despite India’s geopolitical recalibrations over the last 15-odd years, especially vis-à-vis the US and China, it still bears momentum. But all the accumulated bilateral diplomatic and geopolitical capital is now being endangered as a result of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, and the resultant wave of western economic sanctions on Russia.
