Abstract
Right to education is one of the few rights that are crucial for a person’s ability to live a meaningful life and to develop his personality. It comes under the category of social, economic and cultural rights It has also been included in constitutions of various countries and also in international treaties. Though there is a huge difference between including it in the treaties and implementing them, yet states have, in some ways, agreed that illiteracy is a backdrop to the growth and development of any nation and needs to be eliminated.
