Abstract

For a good few decades now , tape-recorded conversations have attracted a fair bit of controversy w ith regard to their admissibility in criminal trials and proceedings. Despite several law s having been passed by the Legislature, call records continue to be tapped by investigative agencies, police and people in the absence of consent of parties and w ithout the sanction of the concerned authorities. The informants seem to have been given the liberty w ith regard to the tapping of phone calls by the Judiciary itself, in the process, aiding the commission of crimes.
