Abstract
The world is under a threat of a major global conflict with Russia attacking Ukraine on 24 February 2022. The threat of a possible invasion has been imminent since the second half of 2021 when Russia’s President Vladimir Putin started a military build-up across the Russia–Belarus–Ukraine border. The relationship between both nations soured in 2014 after the “Maidan” Revolution resulted in a shift of power from pro-Russian Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to pro-West supporters. Russia then annexed Crimea, a strategic peninsula on the Black Sea. This annexation broke all the codes of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) but went unnoticed by the Western world and supposed allies of Ukraine.
