Abstract
Caring for the Elderly provides a critical overview and account of the status of elder care in India. The book highlights the challenges faced by the elderly and suggests ways to inculcate a positive societal attitude towards them. The contributors to this book are anthropologists, health professionals, statisticians, sociologists, social workers and specialists in the field of gerontology, and as such, the book becomes a useful compendium for a wide audience. Most chapters in the book rely on statistical data and, therefore, contribute to the gerontological discourse in India that is already heavily biased towards quantitative studies.
