Abstract
The Uttarakhand High Court, India, in an order dated 20 March 2017, declared water bodies like the Ganges and Yamuna rivers and all their tributaries to be “living entities… having the status of a legal person with all corresponding rights, duties and liabilities of a living person…to preserve and conserve [these rivers]”
