Abstract
The market for healthcare in India has been estimated to be around $65 billion and is being catered to by many players differing in their scale, scope and spread throughout the country. Being a developed country, India faces resource constraints such as doctors and beds in its quest for providing quality care to all. In addition, we routinely come across delays happening, resources getting wasted and harm that could be preventable along the patient journey. We see changes in the what different participants in health care expect at different points of time, the technological developments, the lifestyles of the people as well as in the organization of facilities that create sources of uncertainties. As an improvement initiative is based more upon personal and organizational understanding than what has been carried out by others elsewhere; this paper is an exploratory study on arriving at the right issues along with their complexity to resolve. We utilize the BOIDPAM method which explicitly recognizes the need for validating and reusing the knowledge from existing literature.
