Abstract
NGT was established by statute in October 2010 "for effective and expeditious disposal of cases relating to environment tal protection and conservation of forests and other nat ural resources including enforcement of any legal right relating to environment and giving relief and compensate tion for damages to persons and property and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto."1 The intent was to create a "specialized body equipped with neces sary expertise to handle environmental disputes involve ing multi-disciplinary issues."2 To this end, the guiding light for the NGT has moved beyond the confines of India's Civil Procedure Code of 1908 and into the realms of "natural justice ." 3
