Abstract
While scholars have studied the social and political impact of courts for decades, growing number of studies have started to focus on the symbolic dimension of law in social movement mobilization. In particular, scholars have pointed out how courts’ decisions provide movement actors with symbolic resources to conceptualize and articulate their grievances.1 Law provides valuable discursive tools to mobilizations for generating support among their constituents and political elite, as much as reorienting and “channeling” their claims.
