Abstract
In this paper, we present findings from our multi- stakeholder survey of access to contraception in the Northern Indian State of Haryana. In our survey, we interviewed 168 married women, 120 unmarried women, seventeen ASHA workers, and eleven other healthcare workers. Our survey reveals that Haryana pushes sterilization over other methods and that women face serious barriers to contraception. These findings are particularly stunning in light of 2014 marking the twentieth anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).
