Abstract
The article discusses the social ramifications in India following the gang rape and murder of Jyoti Singh Pandey Delhi, India in December 2012. An overview of the protests of Pandey's rape and murder, including the participation of urban, upper-caste, middle class women, is provided. An overview of feminists' reactions to violence against women in India from 1978 through the early 2010s, including in regard to rape laws and the debate over whether to censor the Indian rapper Honey Singh, is provided.
