Abstract
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is unequivocal in its most recent report about impacts of climate change emerging more prominently across postcolonial landscapes [1–3, 202].However, production and perpetuation of risks is far from simple outcomes of natural or climatic phenomena (such as sea level rise or frequent extreme weather events) across these highly vulnerable ‘riskscapes’ [4]. On the contrary, ‘risks’ in these geographies are contingent upon eclectic constituencies of sociocultural [5], geopolitical [6], natural science and technological [7], political-economic processes [8–10,201]. These anthropogenic factors shape diverse patterns of environmental governance, which in turn interacts with weather events and climatic changes to produce eventual disasters.
