Abstract
Rohinton Mistry's second novel 'A Fine Balance' stands out in comparison to such a long journey on several counts such as a wider scope that includes large chunks of non-Parsi population. It deals with the lives of the rural folk and portrays graphically the endemic problem of caste-based hatred so very characteristics of the Indian rural scene.
