Abstract

This paper argues for a bottom-up approach towards the ongoing inoculation program in India through proactive involvement on part of both the State governments and Central government to ensure those in the remotest areas of the country are vaccinated. In this sense, inspiration is drawn from the successful polio eradication program in which the role of local government was crucial and led India to become polio-free. Through this paper, an effort has been made to put forth the idea of getting vaccinated as a national duty given the fact that it is the only way to come out of the ongoing pandemic.
