Abstract

Human enterprise and social systems of organizing economic activity are predominantly based either on competitive or cooperative principles. Despite the dominance of competitive principles in contemporary capitalism, historically these principles manifested in many different combinations in different contexts. This paper argues that a market enterprise could better serve the interests of society if based on a system of cooperation, rather than competition.
