Abstract
The present situation is marked by the threat of COVID-19 pandemic on entire humankind. Scientists across the globe are trying to find the vaccine or medicines to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, but according to the WHO, vaccines alone won’t be of much help and in longer run practising physical distancing along with sanitation could be the only solution. Against this background, this study intends to explore the relationship between individual’s mindfulness and physical distancing behaviour, along with the mediating role of empathy during COVID-19 pandemic. By using online responses from 315 respondents residing across India, this study employed CFA and PROCESS macro of Hayes for analysis. The findings seem encouraging, and individual’s mindfulness was found to be positively associated with physical distancing behaviour, and the mediation results confirmed the intervening role of empathy. The results could be helpful for policymakers and authorities in tackling the spread of COVID19 pandemic.
