Abstract
Supply chain sustainability can be stated as the consideration of environmental, social and economic factors in its effective and efficient functioning. Over the years, the topic of supply chain sustainability has gained huge importance among both academia as well as the practitioners. The purpose of this paper is to apply the multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) technique of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) in evaluating a set of critical supply chain risk factors, which need to be effectively tackled to make the supply chain truly sustainable. AHP is used as a structured methodology to prioritize the identified risks associated with supply chain sustainability. The purpose of this paper is twofold. Firstly, it provides the policy makers of an organization to gain a better understanding of the risks affecting supply chain sustainability and their relative criticality. Secondly, it exhibits to them how AHP can be used to assess the risks as a part of the framework that governs the final decision. The article concludes with its relevance in the domain of operations and supply chain management and also provides direction of future research.
