Abstract

Technological advancements have transformed the food production industry, particularly through automation, which has enhanced efficiency, quality, and sustainability. Innovations such as smart farming, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have improved the accuracy of agricultural processes, enabled more precise yield predictions, and reduced waste of resources. For example, IoT systems have enhanced water-use efficiency by 25% and improved yield prediction accuracy by more than 92%. Also, AI-powered models have predicted crop yields with an R2 of 0.87, while GPS-guided tools curbed fertilizer application by 20%, lessening environmental damage. Nutrition-preserving food processing techniques, such as High-Pressure Processing (HPP), have also increased product shelf life by 45 days. Alongside cutbacks in food processing labour, manual work decreased by 60%, while packaging line throughput surged by 30%, automation has drastically improved operational efficiency. The above innovations bolster advanced safety protocols, minimize waste, and improve resource efficiency. Twenty-First-century progresses have revolutionized the food industry with the emergence of technologies that automate agricultural processes to enhance food production systems, improving sustainability and quality.
