In today’s modernized and demanding work environments, employee health and well-being are critical for sustaining productivity and organizational success. Physiotherapy has emerged as key intervention strategies to address these challenges by promoting physical activity through exercises, preventing injury, and enhancing overall well-being. The aim of this review was to discover the role of physiotherapy in maintaining and improving workplace health, evaluating its effectiveness in curtailing work-related health risks and promoting sustainable health and wellbeing of employees. Comprehensive electronic search engines like PubMed, Google Scholar, Research gate, ScienceDirect, CINAHL, and Medline were conducted with key words: Workplace wellbeing, health, musculoskeletal pain, mental health, Physiotherapy. The full text articles published between the year 2015 and 2023 in English language focusing on employees as participants were the part of this study. A total of 14 articles were incorporated in the research. The findings of the current review indicated that Physiotherapy plays a pivotal role in managing the WRMSDs. It includes mainly resistance training program, postural corrections, Flexibility exercises, relaxation exercises. Few studies included coordination and balance exercises and general physical activity programs. Many researchers found a significantly positive impact of interventions at workplace on the mental health of employees. Physiotherapist led exercises has a positive impact on reducing work related Physical stress as compared to home exercises. Physiotherapy intervention at workplace is a key to sustainability. The scope of physiotherapy is not only limited to treating and managing the WRMSDs but also preventing them.
Integrating physiotherapy into workplace health promotion can be pivotal in decreasing the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders related to work, alleviating injury risks, and promoting overall employee well-being.
