Abstract

The chapter shall explore the potential of technological advancements, especially artificial intelligence (AI), and their impact on shareholder empowerment in India, which will lead to enhanced corporate transparency, disclosure mecha-nisms, effective communication, and data-driven decision-making. The chapter’s main argument is that ongoing innovation and technological investment are crucial for promoting more equitable and participatory conditions in Indian corporate gover-nance. In the above context, the chapter will propose several suggestions to improve technology adoption in corporate governance. A strong pitch will be made to create a regulatory sandbox for testing artificial intelligence in governance, making disclosure requirements stricter for transparency, and training shareholders and executives using learning schemes to improve their digital literacy. An attempt would also be made to factor ethical standards to address issues like privacy of information as well as algorithmic bias; the requirement of international collaboration to incorporate the best practices worldwide; the imperative of the involvement of stakeholders in AI governance processes; and the revision of the legal frameworks to keep pace with advances in technology. These steps would ensure that technology enables effective governance while ensuring adherence to ethics and promoting fairness.
