Abstract

The ocean is an excellent wave energy source, and utilizing this energy could have substantial benefits, but tsunami waves cause large-scale harm along the coastal region and destroy the coastal structures. The precise prediction of the wave energy distribution during regular day waves and Tsunami waves is essential. It is useful in utilizing wave energy and taking preventive measures to safeguard coastal structures from devastating waves. The mathematical model is demonstrated to predict the accurate distribution of wave energy due to regular day waves and tsunami waves arriving from the northeast and southeast directional waves inside the Visakhapatnam port. The present formulation is verified by comparing the simulations with the previous study. The four key locations are selected to investigate distributions of spectral wave energy within Visakhapatnam port with variable depth and partially reflecting boundary. Thus, the proposed mathematical model is an efficient technique to determine the distribution of wave energy during regular day waves and the tsunami waves at Visakhapatnam port. The sources and mitigation strategies are advised to minimize the wave hazard of regular day waves and the tsunami waves
