Abstract

Recently, two political functionaries of the ruling BJP made some objectionable remarks during a heated debate on news channels and internet media. Recognizing his indiscretion, BJP took the disciplinary action and suspended-expelled him from the party, and made it clear that the views expressed by him are not of the party. The ruling party also declared that it respected all religions, but despite these steps, these comments created a ruckus in Islamic countries and a 'public apology' was launched by the Indian government. Indian ambassadors were summoned to several Gulf countries. Although Indian diplomats clarified to such countries that strict action has been taken against those making derogatory remarks, Nevertheless, a wave of anger against India is being spread by some people and organizations in many Islamic countries of the world. From this, it seems that they are trying to take India under pressure for their vested interests.
