Abstract
The thesis explores various regional frameworks proposed by nations and examines the shift in geopolitics from the Asia-Pacific to the Indo-Pacific. The transition from the Atlantic trade corridor to the Indo-Pacific reflects a redefined strategic importance shaped by global economic and political changes. The research finds that the region’s significance stems from its vital trade routes, resource-rich territories, and strategic maritime routes. The study uses neo-realism theories, focusing on defensive and offensive realism, to understand state behavior and power competition in the Indo-Pacific, mainly focusing on China’s strategies, such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the "String of Pearls." China’s expanding influence in the South China Sea and the broader Indian Ocean challenges the existing power balance, complicating territorial disputes and threatening regional stability.
