Abstract
The increasing alarm of global warming and environmental losses have greatly transformed the financial systems across the world. There is a growing demand that financial institutions should incorporate sustainability factors in their decision making to facilitate sustainable economic development. This has caused the development of green finance, a financial paradigm which balances investments to environmentally sustainable projects and activities. Over the last few years, the sphere of sustainable finance has been expanded by the rapid digital technology progress as a result of the emergence of Green FinTech, the combination of the financial technology innovations and the sustainability aims. In this chapter, the conceptual development of green finance and Green FinTech is considered with references to the theoretical background, history, financial products, technological empowerment, and policy implications.
