Climate change is no longer a far-off and imaginary danger but rather a reality that is near and getting stronger and stronger with each passing moment, cutting across every society worldwide. Its effects, including rising sea levels, increased incidents of extreme weather, lengthy droughts and food and water insecurity are becoming increasingly apparent and disruptive (Islam, 2022; Mullan & Ranger, 2022). These effects are, however, not evenly distributed. Rather, they impact unequally on the vulnerable population, such as the developing world, the low-income populations and the marginalized social groups that have contributed the least to global greenhouse gas emission (Omukuti, 2024).
