Abstract
Mizoram state, in northeast India, is host to a significant refugee population, many of whom are internally displaced Indian citizens, but also including tens of thousands of refugees from Myanmar, with whom Mizoram shares a porous border hundreds of kilometers long.
Access to essential services, including healthcare, is difficult for all refugees, but refugees from Myanmar face additional challenges in accessing health care. This briefing summarises the findings of a study examining the challenges faced by refugee women and children from Myanmar in accessing healthcare in Mizoram.
