Abstract
The Sacred Bond Bill 2026 allows relief from work to employees in India to look after their ageing parents without suffering a pay loss. However, it is steeped in symbolism that emphasises duties of children towards their parents while sidelining the state’s welfare responsibilities or reimagining the eldercare ecosystem that is needed to make the provision work efficiently.
