This paper examines the function of ecopoetic imagery in Khalilullah Khalili’s Dari poetry, as translated in Assembly of Moths, and its role in fostering safety and trauma recovery. Situated at the intersection of ecopoetics, trauma studies, and poetry therapy, it argues that nature-based-metaphors such as trees, wind, soil, rain, and light, function as symbolic spaces for processing of grief, exile, and historical violence. Drawing on Judith Herman’s trauma recovery framework, Nicholas Mazza’s theory of poetry therapy, James Pennebaker’s expressive writing paradigm, and Glenn Albrecht’s concept of psychoterratic emotions, the study demonstrates how Khalili’s poetry traces a movement from traumatic fragmentation to emotional integration and renewed connection. Through close textual analysis of selected poems such as “Desert Germination”, “Flash Flood”, “Barren Harvest”, and “Hope’s Candle”, it shows how ecological imagery enables the expression of suffering,the reconstruction of meaning, and the reimagining of hope, rwhile expanding cross-cultural perspectives in trauma-informed poetry therapy.
