Abstract

During a traffic stop, an extremely routine part of modern life, a driver suddenly loses their eyesight. Rather than darkness, an all-encompassing whiteness, known as white sickness, rears its unsightly head.1 The visual impairment spreads at the speed of administrative panic. The affected persons no longer fit into the existing societal nomenclature, having become objects to be managed and contained. The relocation of these objects provokes state-initiated spatial segregation rather than support, recharacterising healthcare facilities as isolation wards. A clinical anomaly quickly resurfaces as a security, logistics and economic stability issue..
