Abstract
This chapter discusses how Green Logistics (GL) can be affected by Smart Logistics Optimization (SLO) using Carbon-Efficient Routing (CER); for the sample case, the number of participants was 394. This research will focus on improving the efficiency of logistics operations through green initiatives, within the framework of growing environmental awareness and the necessity for sustainable logistics operations. Findings reveal that implementing the GL strategies, in addition to the decrease of carbon emission, can be used to improve the routing efficiency of the logistics associated with cost savings and better operational performance. The particular part of the chapter has got its contribution to the literature since it presents empirical data about the synergetic impression of Green and SL which can have been employed by logistics managers who want to achieve the equilibrium within the environmental sustainability and the operational efficiency. The knowledge obtained in this chapter can be utilized for creating more meaningful strategies for logistics.
