Abstract

The study performs a literature review on adoption and usage of gaming devices among the adults. A five-phase research design of study delves into demystifying research themes and emerging trends using machine learning techniques such as bibliometrics and structural topic modelling (STM). A total 675 documents available on SCOPUS and Web of Science and published during 1993-2025 were analysed to determine publication trends, avenues, authors dynamics, and influential institutions. Finally, STM approach was applied to determine themes resulting in following eight themes: Role of Psyco-behavioral factors in digital gaming; Use of devices for rehabilitation interventions and outcomes; Impact of ergonomics on gaming devices utilization; Role of gaming devices in Neurocognitive enhancement; Use of gaming devices in learning and education; Use of gaming devices in assessment of balance and functional performance; Impacts of gaming devices on adolescent health; Factors of gaming device adoption among older adults. These findings provide critical insights to scholars, practitioners, and policymakers involved with gaming devices industry.
