Abstract

Corporate Sustainability 2030 is a model that embraces UN Sustainable Development Goals. Companies have to relate their long-term goals about environmental sustainability and social concerns to the full list of Sustainable Development Goals offered by the UN. The compliance with sustainable development is one of the key business priorities due to the 2030 Agenda by the United Nations and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The objectives give complex demands to the businesses that require them to consider their environmental and social implications as well as to direct contributions to global sustainability efforts through correct business operations. Company reports are nowadays not only strategic instruments to illustrate how the company operations contribute to sustainable development goals but also a reporting mechanism of environmental and social governance performance measures. Business organizations that aim at aligning these development goals in their reporting systems have made SDGs a priority. Companies should create precise and definite connections between sustainability-related activities and performance indicators, as well as SDG-related outcomes. The matching of sustainability reports with particular SDGs increases their validity and allows the stakeholders to check corporate involvement in the key global challenges, such as climate change, poverty and inequality as well as access to education. The chapter proves that the development of holistic standardized solutions is needed to incorporate SDGs into the corporate sustainability reporting practice in an appropriate manner. Regulators and standard-setting bodies, along with policymakers, should collaborate to come up with efficient and similar disclosure of Sustainable Development Goal indicators across various industries.
