Abstract
AVs will change the way we move around and redefine the automotive industry with the development of AI, sensors, and data analytics. Experimental prototypes, pilots, and small-scale implementations have shown the positive effects of AVs, including the enhancement of safety and accessibility, and the threat to the traditional business model. To identify the main developments in the industry, this paper focuses on 2016-2025 and gathers evidence of journal articles, case studies, and reports that will help to provide a coherent image of the changing AV business models. It categorizes new models, such as Vehicle as a Service, Mobility as a Service, logistics automation and data monetization platforms and evaluates their value proposition, sources of revenue, and risk.
