Abstract
The global environment for sex work is complex, with three distinct legal models - Prohibitionist, Abolitionist/Nordic, or Legalization/Regulation - that has created an access to justice crisis in consensual sex work and human trafficking. Traditional legal aid rewrites does not work due to financial barriers, geographical isolation, and institutionalized mistrust, with vulnerable populations fearing they have been sanctioned by law enforcement as a criminal. Digital legal aid (DLA) platforms emerge as a lifeline, offering anonymous, secure, and immediately accessible support that can help mediate structural and psychological barriers to safety and justice. Ethical design requires Data Security (end-to-end encryption, data minimization), Stealth Mode features to increase users' safety and nylon protective privacy screening. For sex worker users, DLA constitutes an almost de facto decriminalization of sex work, allowing for immediate Know Your Rights information and collective documentation of police abuse.
